There are certain Laws which businesses in the UK must abide by in relation to fire safety in the workplace. This includes the display of relevant fire safety signs. This can include fire exit signs, fire action notices as well as fire extinguisher signs. With so many types of fire signs available, it can be difficult for a business to see which laws are applicable to them and which signs they need.
The relevant piece of government legislation is
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 which came into effect in October 2006. This legislation replaces more than seventy pieces of fire safety legislation.
This order applies to any premises which are non-domestic in Wales and England. This includes common areas of houses or blocks of flats which are in multiple occupation.
You can learn more about how these laws apply to you and your business by reading the
Fire Safety law and guidance documents for business on the Communities and Local Government website.
