Since the passing of the Data Protection Act 1998 (which came into force on 1st March 2000) all companies that are using CCTV cameras must identify themselves and the purpose for which the recorded data must be used for.
It is well known that the UK has more CCTV cameras per person than any other country. This naturally leads to questions on why and how the data recorded by CCTV cameras is used. If used incorrectly this data can be abused and make the general public feel uncomfortable.
